In this month’s school spotlight, we are highlighting consortium partner school, Colby Community College, located in northwest of Kansas, about 50 miles from the Colorado and Nebraska borders. Find out what makes this school cool.

We asked Doug Johnson, Director of Public Information for Colby Community College, to tell us more about CCC which is nestled in the High Plains, here’s what he shared:

Colby Community College offers a variety of one and two-year degree and transfer programs. From its humble beginning in 1964, which consisted of makeshift classrooms in downtown buildings, the college has blossomed into a dynamic institution of more than 1,900 students. In addition to an 80-acre main campus, CCC operates a 60-acre farm for students to use as a hands-on laboratory and training facility. A pioneer in outreach education, CCC accommodates hundreds of off-campus students by offering classes in the 14-county service area.

CCC is a member of the prestigious Jayhawk Conference. NJCAA Division I varsity sports include basketball, wrestling, volleyball, track, cross country, softball, baseball and rodeo.

In addition, students at CCC enjoy a variety of activities, intramural sports and several clubs and organizations. The college also offers a renovated fitness center and indoor swimming pool for student and public use.

CCC has a strong history of student performance and consistently ranks among the best in graduation and retention rates for Kansas two-year public colleges.
